Film 42 & We Tell You

Film 42

Welcome to the Film 42 Project.
Here’s the place to find out about all things Film 42.
Each week we’ll be posting new content and updates on the project on our YouTube channel.

About Film 42:
Funded by Comic Relief and delivered in partnership with Sagita Media, Survivors Manchester and TIPP, Film 42 is a project which empowers young Black men to explore mental health through filmmaking. The films our young men have created will form part of an upcoming campaign which seeks to change the way that young Black men access services for support with their mental health and in turn, how these services ensure they have the best possible experience. Our young men will act as Ambassadors for the Film 42 project, so you can expect to see and hear from them over the coming months.

If you’d like to find out more information about the project or would like to support the campaign, please email Reece.Williams@42ndstreet.org.uk

42nd Street’s We Tell You ‘Perceptions’ Report and Manifesto
Why are men less likely to use a mental health service? Why, in the group of men, are black men even less likely to use a mental health service? There are many reasons but you can now read how the We Tell You team have helped contribute to this conversation.

The We Tell You manifesto and report is the culmination of a three-year peer led research project, which spoke with 78 young black men, aged 13 – 24, across Greater Manchester. In the report, you will find an executive summary, recommendations, background, method and key findings and we are inviting you to explore the perceptions and suggested solutions to some of the barriers faced by young black men when accessing services.
