Young People in the Orthodox Jewish Community

The aims of this commissioned research was to better understand the personal, social and cultural issues impacting on the mental health and wellbeing of young people within the Orthodox Jewish communities and to identify barriers and recommend approaches that are more likely to engage the communities in opportunities and services that would support their emotional health and wellbeing.

It was important to engage young people through the research and involve them in influencing and shaping services, hence the adoption of the peer research approach. Finally, we wanted to look at what works well here in Salford and elsewhere and how commissioning and delivery can better meet need.
